News::Vote on comes in the Saints Row IV Collector's Edition

Saints Row IV is coming out this August and Deep Silver wants to know what they should pack into the Collector's Edition of the game. That's right, YOU have this week to vote between 19 different options.

Some of the stuff you can pick from are the traditional things like a steelbook, artbook, map, shirt, but most of the options sound rather awesome. My favorites include the Presidential briefcase with kinky handcuff and key, Tie with Tie bar and money clip, and RC Helicopter.

There's also an option for a "ridiculously amazing glass display case with lights." Part of me wants to see if Deep Silver would actually follow through if that option won.

News::Mighty Switch Force 2 teaser screens spit hot fire

A pair of teaser images have appeared on WayForward's Twitter page. The first is a seemingly in-game image of baby sitting alone on the sidewalk as the city around him burns to the ground, with the caption, "Who's ready to Switch it UP?" The second is a piece of promotional art of a silhouette racing towards the very same city with what appears to be a hose in hand.

Anyone and their dog should realize that these are related to the upcoming Mighty Switch Force sequel, which was announced on Sup Holmes? last month. From these pics, we can probably assume that gameplay will involve the manipulation or extinguishing of fire. And that silhouette looks like cyborg heroine Patricia Wagon, only she has traded her pistol for a water pack.

I'm getting shades of Super Mario Sunshine, people! Let's see if my speculation holds true!

Analog Addiction writes, "The Batman: Arkham games are amazing Batman games, and amazing games in general. Rumours have been appearing every now and then for a while regarding what the next Arkham game will be. There are rumours that it will be a prequel, as opposed to a sequel- I would prefer a sequel. News::Mark of the Ninja getting new content on PC and XBLA

Mark of the Ninja is getting some long overdue downloadable content. "We built Mark of the Ninja to be a complete experience, both in terms of its mechanics and its narrative," developer Klei Entertainment stated in their press release. "But after the tremendous response we received, we felt we should do something special for everyone that supported us and the game."

The Special Edition features a new flashback level set to the early life of Dosan, the enlightened tattoo artist, that sets the stage for the events in the main game. Plus there will be a new style of play that offers a nonlethal takedown ability. There will be two new items as well, one geared towards stealth and the other more of a direct attack. All of these new features will be usable in the core game too.

Plus there's going to be a commentary track added to the main game. There will commentary nodes that discuss various aspects of Mark of the Ninja by nearly everyone from the development team.

The DLC will be released sometime this Summer for Xbox Live Arcade and Steam. Those of you at PAX East this week can play with the new content at Klei's booth.

No, I am not Dale North. I just play him on TV.

Japan is four days away from the release of Shin Megami Tensei IV on 3DS, so Atlus released a new trailer to properly hype up the fans. This latest video expands on the world and combat -- it may be in Japanese, but I think you can catch the gist.

No US announcement yet, but Atlus has been doing a good job bringing all the MegaTen games to the West since Nocturne on PS2. This one will definitely make the journey as well.

News::Name your price for Bastion on Windows, Mac, and Linux

The folks at Humble Bundle have gotten themselves into weekly sales, it seems. Currently, you can grab a copy of Supergiant Games' well-liked Bastion for as low as $1 on Windows/Mac/Linux with an optional Steam key thrown in.

At the next tier, reachable by paying more than the average, the extras include the digital soundtrack, an art pack, sheet music, and iPhone/Android ringtones. Finally, for $25 or more, the swag is upgraded to a bandana, the soundtrack on CD, and postcards for both Bastion and Transistor; worldwide shipping is included.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct hit shelves today, and yet you would be hard pressed to find very many reviews of the game. The ones you do find are likely from untested blogs struggling to make a name for themselves. What about the 'big names' in games journalism, where are the Kotaku reviews or the Joystiq pieces on Survival Instinct? What about Destructoid or IGN? Most of these blogs have not put up a whole lot of content on The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct and we're pretty sure we know why. The answer comes in two parts: the stigma surrounding the game and Activision's stance on advance copies.

News::Dungeon Defenders II announced with MOBA mode

Ahead of PAX East, Trendy Entertainment has announced Dungeon Defenders II for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and web browsers. After a bunch of ports and even more DLC, it was only a matter of time before a follow-up happened. While the core tower-defense premise remains the same, there's now a multiplayer online battle arena mode as well.

There's a lengthy FAQ about Dungeon Defenders II, but I wanted to point out that heroes, gear, etc. in cooperative play will carry over to this new multiplayer mode. "Our take on the MOBA genre is more RPG-esque, with more hero customization, persistent hero leveling, loot and a town square where players can socialize, manage their heroes, shop, trade, and queue for matches," reads the FAQ. "We've drastically simplified the item system, to reduce the learning curve for new players and are aiming for shorter total match times."

This time around, the studio is going the free-to-play route with the intent to "provide the same amount of content at around the same price as the original game." Expect free heroes to be on a rotation system and, ideally, a much larger player base as a result of the pricing model. While DD never quite clicked with me like Orcs Must Die! , this sounds really intriguing.

News::Hotline Miami now available for Mac via Steam

Hotline Miami is just one of those games that you want to come to other platforms so more people can experience it. At least, that's how I've always felt about ports. After running up against some issues with getting the title ready for Mac players, Dennaton Games has launched this latest version today on Steam.

If you happen to own Hotline Miami for Windows already via Steam, you now have access to the Mac port as well. Otherwise, it's going to be $9.99, an entirely reasonable price to pay for this satisfying top-down action game. One of these days I need to get back in there and earn A+ on the remaining chapters. Easier said than done.

News::Review: StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm

It appears Blizzard's learned quite a bit from Diablo III's launch, as Heart of the Swarm was instantly playable on release with virtually no server problems -- a bit of a rarity, it seems, with recent PC releases.

It's a good thing, too, since as soon as I logged in at midnight, I got hooked on StarCraft again. Heart of the Swarm brings engaging RTS gameplay, sets up a story I found to be more interesting than what was presented in Wings of Liberty, and serves as an excellent middle entry in the StarCraft II trilogy.

News::One Hit Pixel Review: Omerta: City Of Gangsters

One Hit Pixel: "Theres no doubt about the fact that when it comes to depicting organised crime, Grand Theft Auto does it the best. Expansive worlds, fast cars, and massive explosions; you name it and it has it. However, it is all set in more recent times. Weve never really seen a classic game set in 1920s America where the Mafia was rampant throughout the streets of big cities like New York or Chicago. The Mafia series came close, but still wasnt in the right time period, while Gangsters: Organised Crime is currently the best gangster game set in the right period. To be fair though, that is far from a great game, so now we have Omerta: City of Gangsters attempting to make a big name for itself. Is it a wise-guy, or should it be subject to a mock execution?"
