News::PC Gamer - DYAD review

PC Gamer - There arent many games that can be described as beautiful, but Dyad is one of them. Spinning together a mesmerising blend of music and image with tight and ever-shifting game rules, its one of the most beguiling and uplifting games Ive experienced. And thats speaking as a Rez obsessive. To describe it risks stripping some of the magic away, so bear with me. A way to start understanding Dyad would be to think of Tempest, in the sense that youre a ship that runs around the inner wall of a tube, and you kind of shoot enemies as you speed towards them.

News::Trackmania 2 Stadium Review | ComboCaster

TrackMania 2 Stadium is the last title in the series Trackmania the game that revolutionized the eSports. Stadium is the closest game of TrackMania Nations, bringing the series back to the stadiums. If you read my review to TrackMania 2 can see I'm not the biggest fan of the series, but I recognize their strengths. It is a very addictive game, but is based much more on decorating a circuit than react to opponents for example. No contact or any kind of damage, but it is probably one of the biggest games with the notion of speed. Early on will see the similarities with Nations. The goal is always to reach the end as fast as possible and try to get one of three medals, bronze, silver or gold, all separated by mere thousandths of a second. Achieve a gold medal can be a real challenge, only the best will get but the challenge does not end there, because online you may need to make the circuit with zero errors to get to get close to the best times.

News::Rising Storm Review | ComboCaster

Although there are some games on the war in the Pacific during World War II, the vast majority continue to explore the European war against the Nazis. The truth is that it is a more interesting topic, but there is still plenty to explore on stage Pacific. Rising Storm is not exactly a game Anonymous, is part of Red Orchestra 2, one of the games responsible for perpetuating the idea that the war was just in Europe, but with the Tripwire Rising Storm came to bring some of the atmosphere of forgotten Second World War . As Red Orchestra 2, there was a great attention to detail in Rising Storm, both in gameplay itself which is quite realistic as the whole story and environments. The game is much more complicated than simply point and shoot. You need to calculate eg the distance and weight of our bullets. It is not as simple as any CoD and a bad calculation ends with a shot and the enemy failed to deal to teach us how.

News::Deadpool Review: Mentally Unstable Fun, but not Perfect | Entertainment Buddha

Deadpool, the Merc with a Mouth, just put out his own video game with the help of High Moon Studios (Transformers: Fall of Cybertron) that perfectly captures the essence of this mentally unstable dick joke making Marvel superhero. Deadpool the game is a great introduction to the titular character and his unique brand of disturbed humor that ultimately is a parody of recent video game design tropes, and at times of itself. Its comedic value is high if youre into schizophrenic potty humor that resembles conversations heard in a boys middle school locker room, and boobs. Unfortunately, this game ends up becoming the type of experience that it tries to make fun of throughout its 8-hour campaign, and ends up being another button mashing affair to rid the world of generic enemy types and a few lesser known Marvel villains.

SWTOR is getting something of a makeover in terms of colors. Most will agree that its an improvement but for those who have grown accustomed to seeing it in its darker fashion might not approve. News::Capsized is now available on the Xbox Live Arcade

After a nearly two year gap with the PC version, Capsized is finally out on the Xbox Live Arcade today, with a PS3 release to follow later this summer. It's launching at a standard 800 MSP ($9.99), which is the exact price it's going for on Steam.

This new port comes along with some enhanced features, including three exclusive levels and online multiplayer. The original launched to some pretty solid review scores, and since I can't get enough 2D platformers in my life, I'm looking to at least check out the free demo on Xbox Live. I can also easily see this as a free PlayStation Plus offering somewhere down the line.

News::LGA | Bioshock Infinite: As Flawed and Beautiful as Faith

Bioshock Infinite is a very ambitious game, and how could it not be, as it is the sequel to the second greatest first-person shooter of all-time, Bioshock. Sadly, with all the ambitious potential, the game fumbles quite a bit with trying to pack in all these wonderfully diverse ideas, and by the time its over, most of it doesnt really matter anyway. For what its worth, even with all of the squandered plot points, and interesting characters that go by fairly unused, whats done well, narrative-wise, is done exceptionally well, and is undeniably epic, with great atmosphere, though it never comes close to the atmospheric heights of the original.

News::Cooking Mama 5 is heading to the 3DS

Considering the name of Cooking Mama developers Cooking Mama Limited, it was obvious another game would hit a Nintendo console at some point in the future. According to Siliconera, that game is Cooking Mama 5 for the Nintendo 3DS, which is preparing for a winter release in Japan.

Considering the high rate of localization, it's probably best to just assume an overseas release is also in the cards (same with the upcoming Gardening Mama). Will Mama 5 be better than the first four Mamas? We'll know later this year.

News::Why Double Fine deserves more support for Broken Age

GamesRadar - Tim Schafer, the founder of Double Fine Productions, has announced that his Kickstarter-funded adventure game--Broken Age--needs to be split in half in order to avoid significant cuts. The game, which raised $3.3 million via crowd-funding, is apparently too large in scope to run on time and on budget. By splitting the game in half, and releasing the first part via Steam Early Access, Schafer and Double Fine hope to sell enough copies of the incomplete game to finance the rest of the story. The second half would then release as a free download for all backers and buyers. It's far from an ideal solution--but did Schafer and Double Fine really have a choice?
