News::Factorio is going to be somebody's dream game

I had originally intended to share this trailer for Factorio two weeks ago but the video slipped through the cracks. It was brilliant then and it's still brilliant now, so here we are. Give it a look.

Factorio isn't just about building a well-oiled machine (made up of hundreds of individual well-oiled machines), what with it taking place on an alien planet. Your factory, in all its glory, will attract the attention of local wildlife who'd rather you just go back home, thanks. Add "fending off creatures" to a to-do list that includes mining, researching, building, and automating. There's no end.

The game has already gone through a successful Indiegogo campaign and is available now as a paid alpha with a price increase planned for June. There's a demo to get you started.

[Thanks, SirDregan]

News::Pann Previewed - Cliqist

Julie Morley writes: "Pann the Game is designed with a heavy concentration of musical aspects. A musical instrument is one of the reasons Apollo is in this entire mess so it would make sense for it to be an important component of Pann; it is a 2D rhythm action platformer that relies on music to create a flow of movement and action for the player after all."

News::Broken Window Studios Talk Grave, VR and Console Editions

VRFocus - Broken Window Studios Grave passed its funding requirement on Kickstarter last month without generating any noteworthy fuss. Many titles have screamed as they passed the goal line or in order to get enough attention to do so, yet Grave humbly passed its internally designated goal simply by enthusing about its unique features, survival horror and virtual reality (VR). It was of course this last component that raised awareness of the project here at VRFocus.

News::Titanfall Expedition - Is it worth it? The answer is no

CanadianGamer writes: "Titanfall was one, if not, the major release title of Xbox One and of course, one of the most awaited game to release on PC this year. It also received mitigated criticisms or positive feedback from within both, the gaming and the press community. Many criticized the long term appeal of the game, while other praised the very intense and fast paced multiplayer experience. Yesterday we saw the first DLC for the game being released on Xbox Live and Origin. Does this first DLC delivers or it is just another titanic disappointment?"

News::Porting a game from PS3 to PS4 is no simple task.

Porting a game from PS3 to PS4 is no simple task. Sure, one might imagine that you just bump up the resolution and put it on a new disc, but bringing a game like The Last of Us to a new console is actually a huge headache. As TLOU creative director Neil Druckmann puts it in this new EDGE feature, "We expected it to be Hell, and it was Hell."

News::Riot launches Fantasy LCS for League of Legends

League of Legends fans can now create their own fantasy leagues and draft North American and European League Championship Series pros with Riot Games' new Fantasy LCS beta.

Once you create or join a four-, six-, or eight-person team, each week you'll be scored on your picks' kills, deaths, assists, and creep score with team scoring coming down to wins and major objectives. The video above is quick rundown of how it works and Riot has tips as well.

The Fantasy LCS is going to be awesome for anyone who actively follows the scene. So many people signed up yesterday that the site went down and, at the time of writing, live drafting is temporarily closed. There's clearly a desire for this stuff and it's nice to see fans able to participate in a fantasy league hosted by Riot itself. Once it's back up and running, that is.

Our friends at The Behemoth are celebrating the launch of their wonderful game BattleBlock Theater on Steam this week, and they're letting us help join in the fun by giving away ten copies of the game to lucky Dtoiders!

For a chance at a free copy, just answer one of the Behemoth-related trivia questions below! The first person to any given question correctly will be guaranteed a copy of the game, and after all questions have been answered the last five codes will be handed out at random (since I know you'll just copy and paste the right answers, you little devils).

You have until this Sunday at 11:59pm Pacific to enter, and the contest is open to anyone who can redeem a Steam key. Limit one entry per person, and again, you only need to answer one question! Those of you who get in first will need to pay attention to what's been answered already, because only the first person to answer any given question correctly will be guaranteed a copy. (The rest of your names will be thrown in a hat.) Confused? Good.

News::Review: The Walking Dead: In Harms Way [Expansive]

In Harms Way is an ironic title, because when conversing with the cast of characters at the beginning of the episode, the circumstances set before them have split them down the middle. Some believe the world outdoors is more dangerous than the horrors theyre heading into, while others would rather butt heads with the walkers and take their chances in the big wide world. This season has seen Clementine grow in ways that are both terrifying and inspiring. Spiritually, you are replacing Lee as Clementines watcher and minder. You are the one protecting her and trying to keep her alive. There are several points in this episode that will really test your responsibilities. Will you choose to shield her eyes from the ugliness, stop her from performing the horrific, and protect her from precarious situations? Do you trust her to see and do these things, or do you still think of her as the innocent child you first met all that time ago?

Rocksteady Studios has been tweeting images of Batman: Arkham Knight and I'm still smitten. We've got the pointy-eared Dark Knight in Chinatown, Harley Quinn pulling off her best Joker impersonation, and a Riddler Challenge with the Batmobile in Gotham's underground.

Between these screenshots and the first image of Ben Affleck as Batman, I've probably spent too much time this week looking at grown men dressed up as a bat. No regrets.

News::Review: Daylight | OnlySP

OnlySP: I have probably never jumped so hard in my seat playing a game as I did playing Zombie Studios Daylight, when I casually turned around in a previously empty, nonthreatening corridor and came face to face with a screaming, bright-eyed, ghoulish witch-ghost. Moments like these ultimately make Daylight greater than the sum of its frustrating, clunky, often repetitive parts and worth the time of most horror game enthusiasts. Casual fans might want to steer clear or risk feeling ripped off, but those brave players willing to stick through the hidden-object monotony should keep a stuffed animal close at hand.

News::Review: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle

How do you like your fighting games? Personally, I like mine with a sizable dose of pop culture references and eye-melting color palettes infused with a healthy dose of humor that's hilariously self-aware. That's what you get with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle , the most gleefully insane anime-inspired fighter the genre has seen in some time.

Distilling a good 25 years' worth of story arcs from the wildly popular JoJo's Bizarre Adventure into an accessible fighter that anyone can enjoy is no easy feat, and yet developer CyberConnect2 has done an admirable job that should be praised. Even if your heart is as black as professional jerk Dio Brando's.
