News::Sniper Elite 3 Review | The Working Gamer

Nick Linnell writes : Shooting someone in the head is a common occurrence in modern day video games, and Rebellions Sniper Elite series is synonymous with doing just that, but has the third installment, and Sniper Elites first foray into the new generation of consoles expanded on the tried and tested formulae you may ask. In short it yes it can, but not without it shortcomings.

News::Review: Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Reborn

When I was a kid, I loved watching Gundam Wing and the original Mobile Suit Gundam on Cartoon Network. The mecha genre has always been a personal favorite of mine so I tried to capture the same feeling while playing a video game as I had watching Gundam anime and pretending that I was Heero Yuy or Amuro Ray.

With interest in Gundam on the rise in the US after the Cartoon Network runs, some of the games were finally localized for North America. I thought I’d finally be able to play through the stories I loved so much, picking up Mobile Suit Gundam: Journey to Jaburo as soon as it came out and the disappointment I had in that game resonates with me today. It sure didn’t feel like I was in command of the mobile suit that won the One Year War. I felt like I was in control of a robot-shaped RC car.

Luckily, I was finally able to find the game that would finally reproduce the warm and fuzzy feelings that viewing Gundam for the first time did so long ago, and who would have thought it would have come in the form of a Dynasty Warriors game?

News::Galactic Civilizations 3 Hands-On Preview {CriticallySane}

Critically Sane: "As a hardcore strategy gamer, theres a line I see in articles on the 4X genre from writers with a bit less experience than I have. It is always written about space 4X games, and it always makes me cringe in the ultimate cringe fashion. The line is as follows: Will this game finally be the spiritual successor to Masters of Orion 2 that weve all been waiting for? The problem with this line is that Stardock already made that game in 2006, Galactic Civilization 2: Dread Lords. That game spawned several expansions, and earned a deep affection throughout the strategy gaming community. 2006 was a long time ago, but, thankfully, Stardock is returning to that beloved franchise with the upcoming Galactic Civilizations 3."

News::Review: Valiant Hearts: The Great War (New Gamer Nation)

There are countless games covering World War II, but very few, if any, take place during the first Great War. The most obvious reason is how easily WWII can be romanticized, where different countries came together to stop a rising madman. There are heroes, villains, and all sorts of amazing inspirational struggles. WWI was the opposite. There was no clear villain (not to the extent of Hitler at least) and it seemed every side was sitting in trenches or using outdated strategy tactics against modern weaponry. Every battle was a horrifying massacre that caused an entire Lost Generation afterwards. Not exactly triple AAA game material. Valiant Hearts takes on this challenge and does not pretend to be anything more than telling the story of a very tragic time in the history of the world.

GamingLives takes a look at the 2015 edition of the much-loved card game. "The main draw for these types of games is never going to be the graphics and sound but, from what Ive seen, the cards are as exquisitely detailed as I have come to expect. There have been some graphical upgrades to the cards and playing environment, too everything is getting a fresh lick of paint for what should be the best version of Magic yet. Wizards of the Coast are currently aiming for release on all platforms, including Android and iPad, although the PlayStation 4 has been curiously omitted."

News::Beyond: Two Souls could be heading to PS4 with a Director's Cut you should buy this time

Two German retail sites, Alcom and World of Games, appear to have put up listings for an expanded version of Beyond: Two Souls , known tentatively as Beyond: Two Souls Director's Cut. The listings have since been pulled, but it is known that developer Quantic Dream has been involved with the PlayStation 4 since early in development, so this could mean

Although the listings are far from confirmation, they further reinforce reports from earlier in the year when NeoGAF users found a PS4 version of the game embedded within a programmer's portfolio.

Beyond: Two Souls was released on PlayStation 3 in October of last year and went on to sell over a million copies, despite criticism for a muddled narrative and a dearth of any real meaningful choice. for one hope to see more of Jodie and Aiden's adventures and think that there's plenty of ground left to cover.

News::ZTGD | Final Fantasy III (PC) Review

Jae Lee writes: When Final Fantasy 3 was given the remake treatment back in 2006 on the DS, I picked it up, as Id never played the original on the NES. Understandably so, as it was a Japan only title for a long, long time. However, when I played the DS remake, I was left unimpressed by basically everything, from the visuals to the rather obtuse gameplay designs. Now that same title has made its way to PC, replaying it reminded me why I never got around to finishing it in the first place.

News::Pile of Shame Resident Evil 4 Retrospective Review

William at GameCloud writes: "If youre not familiar with what a pile of shame is: basically, its all those games youve purchased over the years, either on a whim or in a steam sale, that youve simply never gotten around to playing. We all have one, but as someone who writes about games, its likely no surprise that mine is shamefully large. For this reason, and given the winter slowdown for new releases, we created a special series where we retrospectively review some of these games. As a longtime fan of survival horror, I couldnt think of a more shameful title in my own pile than Resident Evil 4. In fact, Ive literally had a collectors edition (GameCube) sitting on the shelf in front of me for the past 7 years. Ive even played Resident Evil 5 and Revelations HD since, so I just dont know how I managed to skip out on one of the most highly acclaimed games in my favourite genre. Ive finally played it, though; albeit 9 years late. Here is what I thought about it."
