News::Rays The Dead Hands-on Preview | Entertainment Buddha

EB's Owen Hibbert writes, "Rays The Dead features a gorgeous 2D art style that is a joy to see in action. I really cannot recall the last time an art style wowed me like Rays has, and that feels wonderful. The game has a very unique look about it that lends perfectly to its charm, characters are vibrant and laughable and dialogue is well written. Despite the build being over a year old, I still felt that it showed enough of the game for me to judge whether I would like it, and without saying too much, you should definitely hold hopes high for Ray and his undead pals. So what is Rays The Dead about exactly?"

The silence is interrupted by another knock. Someone's at the door, and whoever it is, he does not stop knock knock knocking. Katia goes up and looks through the keyhole. There is an old man. News::The Witcher 3 "needed" to be on PS4

"With The Witcher 3 we knew that we would have to reach a wider audience," Gilewski told VG247 in a recent interview. "We needed to be on the new consoles and in particular the PS4, because a lot of people are attracted to them." "It's only with the next-gen consoles that we can do much more," Gilewski added later when explaining how the new-gen tech was allowing the studio to broaden their horizons with regards to Wild Hunt. "Open-world was something we've always wanted to do and we believed that was the missing element for this story. To make it truly immersive we had to let people explore it their way. We always wanted this but we couldn't because of technical limitations and because of the experience and size of the team."

News::Review - Alien: Isolation | Controller Crusade

Wes from Controller Crusade writes: "It feels like its been so long since a true survival horror title hit the mainstream market. Most big budget titles that deem themselves horror these days seem to lean towards more on action and set-piece sequences than carefully paced tension or engrossing atmosphere. How appropriate then, the title to give resurgence to the genre would be one based on one of the most influential science fiction and horror franchises of all time. Often imitated but never duplicated, the Alien franchise has been the groundwork for inspiration in the video game industry, and like a corrupting life form that writhes unseen in the darkness, has spread its influence into modern culture for over three decades, and still continues to do so."

News::Missing EarthBound is my biggest gaming regret

Every so often on Destructoid, we publish a post celebrating EarthBound and, right on cue, I come away impressed. Whether it's Chad recounting an emotional, fourth-wall-breaking moment, Jonathan explaining the game's greatness, or Darren sharing a heartfelt animation, I'm left in awe at the raw passion, talent, and near decades-long commitment of its fans.

I also leave those posts feeling a hint of sadness. For as much as I know about EarthBound, I don't *know* EarthBound. Not personally. I would say I've never experienced it before but that's untrue. I have tried and failed to play it a couple of times now, as recently as a few years back. That last attempt wasn't painful so much as it was a little depressing.

"Why can't I get into this?" I remember asking myself. "I'm sure I'd adore it if only I could!"

News::Devolver Digital and Croteam release free puzzler mini-game

Croteam, the independent development studio behind the Serious Sam games and debonair indie publisher Devolver Digital have recently released a free mini-game prelude to their upcoming philosophical first-person puzzle game, The Talos Principle .

"Subjects are tasked by the ominous paternal guide of The Talos Principle with deciphering a series of puzzle sets by rotating and placing the sigil shapes within the board. Doing so proves your worth to Elohim and unlocks helpful items and relics that can then be used within the upcoming The Talos Principle to gain an advantage."

The puzzles are rather straightforward at first but the difficulty ramps up the further you progress. There are a total of 32 sigil puzzles available in the first set with two more sets being planned before the The Talos Priniciple's launch, sometime later this year.

Sigils of Elohim is currently available as a free download for the PC, Mac and Linux; as well as on iOS and Android.

Similar to the X series you can choose between the campaign or just dive into an all out sandbox playground to write your own tales in the stars; of which Ill answer which one you should not pick. After 30 minutes of the campaign I can tell you not to bother with SG2s story, its an overdone cliché of avenging your father with some of the worst voice acting Ive heard in a while. You play Bobby Joe/Jane, Gabriel Faulkner (who is bland, uninteresting and isnt worth remembering) on a routine mission is separated from their fathers ship which leads to his demise and from there you begin your quest of vengeance"
