News:: Attack on Titan Season 2's first episodes definitely weren't worth the three-year wait

Attack on Titan dominated the fan scene three years ago. Conventions were filled wall to wall with its cosplay, and it was one of the few anime projects breaking out into the mainstream. Garnering attention for its fresh take on post-apocalyptic media, this bleak series was a giant success. Then the anime production went on hiatus for three years.

It's yet to be seen whether or not the hiatus was good for the second season's production, but after watching the first two episodes it doesn't seem like that's the case. To be gone for so long just to come back and assume it's business as usual is presumptuous and will definitely mark this series going forward.

It's got a good opening theme though.

News:: Bloggers Wanted: Crowdfunded

It feels like it's been a decade since we've seen the rise of the crowdfunded game. I'm always surprised when I remind myself that crowdfunding has been a thing long before the first crowdfunded video game, but nowadays a crowdfunded game seems like a dime a dozen.

News:: Review: Use Your Words

Listen up fam, if you're into making dank memes and have a few equally 'lulz' friends who want to create them sitting around a TV via their cell phones, then this is the game for you. I guess?

In a world that practically speaks, eats, and breathes in memes to the point that cartoon frogs are considered a symbol of antisemitism, charging money for a party game that equates to creating memes was not a great idea; it was a bad one, in fact.

News:: Binding of Isaac gets second printing on Switch with epic new artwork

I don't own a Nintendo Switch yet, however, I do own three games for it already. I preordered the special edition of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild before it sold out, picked up a copy of Super Bomberman R on a whim, and grabbed The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ one day when I was bored and had too much money in my wallet. I also wanted to secure a physical copy of the game in case it became hard to find when I actually got my Switch.

If you've been unable to find a copy of Isaac, fret not. Developer Nicalis announced on Twitter a second printing of the game, complete with epic new cover art.

News:: Slingin yayo in GTA: Chinatown Wars is the greatest side-quest ever

I was first introduced to Grand Theft Auto at my best friend’s house. He had the original game for the PlayStation and the two of us would spend Saturday afternoons taking turns mowing down people, shooting up crowded streets and trying to complete the various missions we stumbled across. We never bothered going far into the story of the game, a trend that continued with Grand Theft Auto II and London 1969. Grand Theft Auto III was the first game to really get me to pay attention to the world Rockstar had created. It remains my favorite game in the series and made it impossible for me to return to the top-down perspective of the original titles.

I tried and failed with Grand Theft Auto: Advance, but Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars was more successful, if only for one gameplay element: drug dealing. How funny it was for me that a company most famous for its family friendly persona was home to a game where I could deal acid and cocaine in basketball courts and parks.

If video games are vessels for people to indulge in activities they’d never perform in real life, drug dealing in GTA: Chinatown Wars was my goddamn Nautilus. I racked up probably 40 hours playing that game, only 10 or so of which I spent with the story. The rest of the time, I was working to become the biggest coke dealer in all of Liberty City. The economy of this side-task resulted in many pages of notes, tracking who to buy from, who to sell to and the best escape routes for when the fuzz showed up.

I couldn’t completely get into Chinatown Wars due to years of fully realized 3D worlds, but dealing drugs is easily the greatest and most entertaining thing I’ve done in a Grand Theft Auto game. In fact, it’s my favorite side-quest ever and I don’t think anyone can name one that is better.

News:: New mythical Pokemon coming to Sun/Moon

When I picked up Pokémon Moon back in November, I swore to myself that it was going to be the Pokémon game that would finally turn me into a diehard fan. Here we are nearly five months later and I've racked up approximately 35 minutes of playtime with it. Shame, shame, shame on me.

For those of you who have put the time and effort into exploring everything Sun and Moon have to offer, something new is coming your way soon. The Pokémon Company dropped a trailer debuting its newest mythical Pokémon Marshadow. It's a very limited teaser, not even bothering to show the creature in action, but it's something I guess. I'm just trying to get through writing this without calling it "Marshmallow" because since I first heard its name, all I've been able to think about are s'mores.

News:: PREPARE TO FRIENDSHIP: Dtoid's Master Gaming Contact List

[Spring is the worst of all seasons. The fact that the pain it inflicts upon me is multiplied by how pretty it is at the time only makes it worse. Also, friend codes, give them to me! The List will be updated into perpetuity -Panda]

Good morning/afteroon/tomorrow, my friends/robots/Gardevoir

It has been made aware to me that, just perhaps, you all enjoy video games. It might even be said that you... like to game with others? Now now, don't be that way, I don't mean to lump you into some sort of box. You're all just such lovely folks, it pains me to watch you, struggling in vain to connect with each other, striving to engage in...

News:: Real-life 'Pong' table is available as a crowdfunding project

Remember that real-world Pong table that was supposed to become a product you could buy if everything went smoothly? Well, it's here... almost. The creators have launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to launch a production-grade, coffee table-sized version of the design. If you're willing to pledge at least $1,100 ($990 if you were referred by an existing backer), you can get living room furniture that uses magnets, motors and optical sensors to recreate the classic 1972 game. You can hide the controls when you aren't using them, and the table even throws in USB charging ports, Bluetooth music streaming and a coin-op mode to recoup your investment.

News:: GameStop looks into a potentially serious credit card breach

Did you shop at GameStop's online store for the holidays, or take advantage of its post-holiday clearance sales? You might want to check your credit card statement. GameStop has confirmed to security guru Brian Krebs that it's looking into a possible data breach that compromised credit card info between September 2016 and February 2017. Krebs' financial industry sources claim that the intruders not only took card numbers, expiration dates and cardholder addresses, but the three-digit security number that's ordinarily hard to get (as it's not usually stored online). This suggests the attackers planted malware on the site to harvest the info before it was transmitted -- this was clearly not a run-of-the-mill breach if so.
